I am not even sure there is anything I can say about this album — it is simply classic, timeless, and essential to any discography of Latin American music, not to mention Brazilian music. Rejected by the gate-keepers of good taste, music critics, the album sold like hotcakes. Again, with the passage of time it is difficult to see how ‘revolutionary’ this music was, but it definitely made subversive waves in 1963 and has stood the old time-test to be a gorgeous landmark of twentieth-century popular music. For now I will say that this remaster seem a bit on the loud side but not horribly so, and on this title at least Ben’s vocals sound very nice and up front, and this album has some of the most soulful vocals of his career. It’s also worth mentioning that Ben wrote every song but one on this debut album, something that wasn’t too common for anybody in 1963.http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifhttp:http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif//www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

Tracks 3 and 5 appear to be missing from the FLAC download.
Big thanks for all the goodies you're sharing, my friend (it's real nice to have the complete artwork to browse while listening). I've listened to the previous Ben you've shared, and they do sound a bit loud and even a bit "cold" too at times, but on the other side there's much more details and subtilities jumping at your ears. And i agree with you, it's hard to figure that this lp could have somehow sounded "revolutionary" in retrospect.
Many thanks for Jorge, Flabbergasted!
BlackCab I am not sure what you are talking about, I am sitting here looking right at them in the file set, tracks three and five right there with all the other.
and you`re welcome..
This is truly fantastic record. I've played this one for years, and I agree that it's one of his best. His early period is just as essential as his 70's material IMO. As you say, Ben's voice is in peak form. I love when he breaks into that rich, deep and emotive falsetto of his.
Any chance for Part 2 of 14? It's amazing this set!! Thanks
Força Bruta, the best!!! I hope you post soon!
Gracias hermano!!
I do like this record, but "Bossa Nova" by Walter Santos from the same year is one that I come back to more often.
many thanks for the sounds. but, where's the artwork on link file? Its missing!! Its not included!!!
very odd, two people just pointed this out on the same day. Complete files with artwork are here:

Thanks, flabbergasted, for all the downloads, especially the Ben ones. He was the best of them all. And your website is my new favorite URL on the net. Bless you and your ridiculous music knowledge.
JORGE IS PERFECT!
^Y^
Obrigado!
Excellent stuff, thanks for all of this. Sadly for this one the flac link seems not to work for the moment… and it's died elsewhere as well by the looks.
downloaded most of the ben albums and can't thank you enough man! the sound quality on the boxset reissues are better than any other ive heard so i can't wait to download this one! the FLAC link is dead so if you do get a chance 🙂 thanks!
link is now working ppl! thanks much appreciated man!!
I did it cuz you asked nice 😉
Reading around a bit on the interwebs, this apparently is one of the all-time legendary samba records I am very curious to get to know. Thank you!
Moito obrigado !
Man, I know it's overkill, but I just came back to this one tonight and it made my heart sing–"Balanca Pema," specifically, but they're all immortal gems. As someone who's spent waaaaaaaaay too much time listening to JB's discography, I can say this album is in the top 3, for me anyway. Thanks again for making all the records on this site available. It's made my life brighter.
Would it be possible for you to reupload this? I've been listening to Jorge Ben on YouTube, and I can't get enough of him!
